by Darlyn Finch Kuhn on July 24, 2014

Dale Slongwhite’s book, Fed Up: The High Costs of Cheap Food was released in May by the University Press of Florida. She interviewed eleven African American former farmworkers who planted and harvested produce on the farms surrounding Lake Apopka. She wrote the book from their point of view. Barry Estabrook, author of TomatoLand gave this endorsement: “Poignant, gut-wrenching and real, this book should be required reading for everyone who eats.” Dale will be speaking and signing books on the following dates:

  • August      16, 4:00 – Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Boulevard, Orlando,      Florida. One hour program.
  • August      17, 1:00 – 3:00 – Barrel of Books, 128 W. 4th Street, Mt. Dora, Florida.      Book signing only.
  • August      28, 7:00 – Barnes and Noble, 2414 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida. One      hour program.
