Erik Deckers shares Ten Secrets to Writing Humor

Join Vic DiGenti this Saturday at the FWA Ponte Vedra Writers meeting when longtime humor writer Erik Deckers  shares his “Ten Secrets to Writing Humor. ”  The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Beach Library.

Erik says that humor lives in the gap between the ridiculous and the real,  and he will discuss the techniques professionals use to “write funny.” So get ready for a few laughs this Saturday morning.

The concept is simple. Our writers read in your town. Then your writers read in our town. Everybody wins!

On Saturday, March 17th, from 2-4 pm, Jacksonville writers Tricia Booker, Tim Gilmore, Matt Lany, Darlyn Kuhn, Brad Kuhn, and Andres Rojas will read at Community Cafe, 2444 Central Aveue, St. Petersburg, FL 33712. Many thanks to Wordier Than Thou for their eager participation. St. Pete writers will visit Jax on 4/7/2018. Details to follow in a future Scribbles.

Flying Machine at The Timucua “White House”

FLYING MACHINE DEBUTS AT TIMACUA ARTS FOUNDATION CONCERT, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11 AT 7:30 PM

Flying Machine, a collaboration of Orlando composer Benoit Glazer

and Orlando poet Al Rocheleau, reflects on excerpts and drawings of Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks.

Glazer, conductor of Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba, has created sixteen short movements (performed by the Alterity Woodwind Quintet) responding to Rocheleau’s suite of sixteen poems.

The suite explores DaVinci’s inimitable vision, philosophy, art, and inventions across time and space. The concert, organized by the Timacua Arts Foundation, the Central Florida Composers Forum, and the Alterity Chamber Orchestra will take place at:
