The Mountaintop

Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop will be performed at the Mad Cow Theatre from February 14th through March 16th.

Memphis- April 3, 1968.  A gripping re-imagining of the events taking place the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. After delivering his magnificent speech, an exhausted and defeated Dr. King retires to Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel where he encounters a mysterious and spirited stranger as an epic storm rages outside.

Laura van den Berg Speaks at Winter With The Writers

Laura van den Berg will teach a master writing class at 4 p.m. and reading of her own work at 7:30 p.m. at Winter with the Writers on Thursday, February 20th. Both events will be held at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College.

Laura’s first published story collection, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, was listed in the “Discover Great New Writers” section of Barnes and Noble, long-listed for The Story Prize and shortlisted for the Frank O’ Connor International Award. 

Laura released her second collection of short stories, The Isle of Youth, in November 2013.

Alan Michael Parker to Appear at Winter With The Writers

Alan Michael Parker, a published poet of multiple pieces, will speak at Winter With the Writers this Thursday, February 20th. Parker will hold a master writing class at 2 p.m. at Winter Park Plaza and a reading at 7:30 p.m. in the Bush Auditorium.

Parker’s poetry has been featured in multiple renowned outlets including the 2013 Best American Essays and Waccamaw. Parker also won the 2013 Randall Jarrell Poetry Prize for his poem, “The Ladder.”
