ONCE tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who’s about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs.

Don’t let yourself get down about this cold weather; remember the weekend is almost here! Starting on Friday, January 31st, The Zora Neale Hurston Festival will be celebraed in Eatonville.

The event celebrates the life and work of Zora Neale Hurston and the contributions that African Americans have made to the world. Writing Your Life 14 Day Writing Challenge

sc      Writing Your Life will host its 14-day long writing challenge beginning on February 1st.  For two weeks, those signed up for the challenge will receive a prompt and various writing tips. The writers will then respond to the prompt in a private forum designed for their responses and others comments and questions. Writers from all over the world are invited to participate in this free writing challenge. Poetry Ensemble of Orlando Holds Contest

According to Poetry Ensemble of Orlando, all poets are invited to participate in its 2014 poetry contest. All forms and themes of original, unpublished poetry of 32 lines or fewer are welcome. Entries must be postmarked between February 1, 2014 and April 10, 2014.      Entry fees are $5.00 for the first poem and $4.00 for each additional poem. There is no limit to the number of entries.

To enter this contest, mail a typed copy, photocopy, or computer printout of each poem.  Attach a cover sheet with name, address, telephone number, email address, poem title, and the number of lines. The author’s name must not appear on the entry. Manuscripts cannot be returned. Make checks payable to: Robert A. Osborne. Winners will be notified by April 30, 2014.
