Sandi Hutcheson, author of Looks Great Naked, will speak at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd at the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) meeting held at the Merritt Island Public Library, 1195 N. Courtenay Pkwy. The NLAPW allows female writers a chance to gather together to share their own pieces and explore the creative works of others. Sandi will talk about her first published book.

With an MFA from Spalding University, Sandi’s work has been published in Creative Nonfiction, Doxie Digest, and Southern Journal magazines. Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is seeking new full-length plays that speak to the human condition in a contemporary world. Topics may range from international headlines to interpersonal relationships, and both comedies and dramas are welcome. Seven of the new works submitted will be selected for readings in the Theater’s annual new play festival PlayFest in November 2014, and considered for fully staged productions in future seasons. All submissions are due on or before March 1, 2014. For a complete list of submission guidelines, visitwww.orlandoshakes.org/playfest.

PlayFest is a nationally recognized program and represents one of the strongest commitments to new plays. The annual weekend of staged readings is a direct pipeline to full productions in Orlando Shakes’ Signature Series. Over the years, Orlando Shakes has helped nurture and develop over 100 new plays.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater is supported by United Arts of Central Florida, host of power2give.org/centralflorida, and the collaborative Campaign for the Arts. Orlando Shakespeare Theater is also sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.

Table Manners

scribbsTable Manners, Alan Ayckbourn’s award-winning comedy, follows the intertwining lives of a group of siblings and their significant others during a weekend in the country. This sidesplitting farce explodes with lust, hysterics, and exasperation as three couples share a weekend in search of love, sex, and the meaning of marriage. A comic feast where chairs and food are scarce, but laughs are served aplenty…crippling you with laughter that shakes the body and more subversively, fractures the soul.”- The New York Times

Table Manners will at the Harriett Theatre from January 24- February 23. 2014. Showtimes are Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets start at $28.25. For more information, visit Mad Cow Theatre’s website.
