The speaker for this month is Heidi Alfonzo.  Heidi teaches writing to inmates and will share with us how she began this endeavor and the what’s and why’s of how she teaches it.

The writing assignment for May is to describe the bag you carry with you most, telling what you carry in it and why, and making it into a story.  350 words or less, double-spaced –Bring a copy to turn in after you have read, 10 with line numbers if you want to submit it to the workshop group that will follow the meeting.  Anyone who has done the assignment is welcome to read it to the group.

Ormond Beach, FL 32174.  Ellis will discuss how he came to research and write his award-winning memoir. This topic should be of interest to all genealogists and anyone who has contemplated writing a non-fiction memoir.

YARD SALE TO BENEFIT KEROUAC HOUSE

The Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, May 15th 8 AM – 5 PM (one day only) on the lawn of the Kerouac House, 1418 Clouser Ave., Orlando, FL 32804 (at the corner of Shady Lane Dr.).

Donations of books, household items, and funky stuff can be brought by Amazon Hose & Rubber Co. 1625 West Princeton Street anytime M – F from 8-5.  We encourage folks to come set up their own table and/or help out with the sale.  All proceeds will benefit The Jack Kerouac Writers in Residence Project of Orlando, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) publicly supported charitable organization. There will be readings and fun stuff throughout the day, even an “old-fashioned” lemonade stand.
