San Marco Books & More to Provide Books at Nat Glover Signing

Desiree Bailey of San Marco Books and More has been a good friend to the JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival for years, and she will sell books for former JSO Sheriff Nat Glover to sign on Friday, December 1st, after he reads from Striving for Justice: A Black Sheriff in the Deep South. Glover’s reading starts at 6:00 PM.

We are very grateful to the bookstore (and Desiree) for using her time, talent, and treasure in this way.

JaxbyJax Welcomes Mary Lou Sutherlin

Mary Lou Sutherlin (Granny Lou) is a poet from North Manchester, Indiana who has lived in Jacksonville for forty years . She studied at Purdue University and worked at Vistakon, developing contact lenses, and also at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. Her poetry chapbook is titled “Heartsongs.”

Sutherlin will read her work at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 2nd in the Main Auditorium F-128.

Hailey Rose Jacobsen to read at JaxbyJax Student Showcase

Hailey Rose Jacobsen is a 19 year old poet originally from Parkland,FL. She studies political science and sociology at the UNF and has been writing poetry since she was 11. She enjoys writing, reading, and the performing arts, and hopes to encapsulate her love for a poetic outlook on life through her writing. Her spoken word includes slice-of-life themes such as religion, relationships, and family. Hailey Rose has performed her piece “You don’t look Jewish” at Yad Vashem, in Israel.

Jacobsen will read during the Student Showcase at 3 pm on Saturday, December 2nd in the Main Auditorium F-128.
