Learn how to market your book for free using social media with author and speaker Shannon Bell on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the University Club in Winter Park. Shannon will teach you how to 1) effectively market with Twitter, 2) effectively market with Facebook, and 3) get buzz going about your book before it’s released. Shannon says, “Marketing your book can be done for free as soon as you learn how to use social media to its fullest potential.”

From I-4 East or West, take the Lee Road exit and head East toward the Atlantic Ocean. Lee Road will dead end at 17-92 (Orlando Ave.) where you will make a right turn, then get immediately into the left turn lane to make a left on Webster. Follow Webster through a light at Denning, then another light at the railroad tracks, then you will come to a stop sign, actually stop, then before the next stop sign (which is Park Ave) you will turn left into the University Club. Park your car in the grass, then walk up the ramp to the side door. Enter and keep going to your left inside to the library where we hold the meeting.

McRae Art Studios Spring Open House

Friday, May 1st, McRae Art Studios throws open the doors for their Spring Open House from 5-10 p.m. The event is free, open to the public, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

More than 1,000 art works will be on display, including paintings prints, photographs, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, and pottery.  The open house will include original works by visiting artist Noreen Coup, who paints landscapes in oils.

CHB Central Florida Poetry Anthology Launch Celebration/Reading

The Orlando book launch for the newest CHB Central Florida Poetry Anthology – Looking Life in the Eye: Poets of Central Florida, volume 3, will be held on Thursday, May 7, beginning at 7 p.m. at Vick’s International Steakhouse,5320 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, 32810.

The anthology features 100 of Central Florida’s poets from Tampa to Palm Bay, and was co-edited by two of our Orlando Poets, Russ Golata and Elaine Person, along with CHB owner Gary Broughman.  Poets featured in the book, including Peter Gordon, author of Two Car Garage, will read, and people will have the opportunity to buy copies signed by the poets in attendance.
