JaxbyJax Thanks 904WARD

JaxbyJax wishes to thank Kim Allen, 904WARD, and their Jacksonville Community Remembrance Project for sponsoring a dramatic reading of Screams Echo at 6:30 PM on Friday, October 28 to kick off this year’s festival at the Jessie Ball duPont Center. Doors open at 6:00 PM, so that attendees can view art related to the project, learn more about it, and pay respects to the soil jars collected at the sites of seven Duval County lynchings.

A Q&A with the cast and audience discussion of the play’s impact will follow the performance.

It’s nice to have a fiscal sponsor like 904WARD so that donations to JaxbyJax are tax-deductible for donors. But it’s especially nice when you know that your fiscal sponsor is doing important work in the world. Here’s how to get involved.

JaxbyJax Appreciates JaxNEXT100 & The Jessie

In this 200th birthday year of the City of Jacksonville, JaxNEXT100 presents JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival IX, a celebration of Jacksonville writers writing Jacksonville at the Jessie Ball duPont Center (corne of Adams and Ocean in Downtown Jacksonville) on Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29.

For details, see the event guide here.

Many thanks to Mark Walker and his amazing team at The Jessie for celebrating our talented writers in this way.

JaxbyJax Thanks Moving the Margins

We want to express our appreciation to Shawana Brooks and Moving the Margins, for the sponsorship and dedication to the JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival. Shawana curates the art exhibits at the Corner Gallery in the Jessie Ball duPont Center, and provides logistical, technical, and facility support for events like ours. Like a graceful swan, she manages to look cool and elegant on top of the water, while paddling furiously underneath. Thank you!

Be sure to visit the Past, Present, Future exhibit while attending the festival.
