Writing Workshop: Strong Characters, Big Adventures

Come out for a fun afternoon of learning on Sunday, October 12 at 2 p.m. in the Albertson Room of Orlando Public Library. In this workshop you will learn how to construct strong, complex characters and detailed story lines that will capture the imagination of readers and keep them turning pages. Bring your new or working idea for a story and you will get a plot and character intensive with three published young adult authors who will help you deepen and refine what you already have or get you started on the right track.

Carlton Johnson on Silencing Your Inner Critic

Teacher/Astronomer/Philosopher Carlton Johnson will read poetry and speak about silencing your inner critic at the Winter Park Public Library on Saturday, October 18th at 10 a.m.

Johnson, a native of Maryland, has lived in Winter Park for the past 8 years. He is a member of the First Monday Orlando Poetry Group as well as the Florida State Poetry Association. His work was recently included in Love & Other Passions – an anthology of Central Florida Poets, the Provo Canyon Review, Breakfast Poetry, and will appear in an upcoming Anthology by the Florida State Poets Association.  Johnson is an active participant in 12 Chairs, a Master class in Poetry (spanning 30 months) chaired by Al Rocheleau. Johnson is a Math Teacher at Central Florida Prep. 

 

 

 

 

 

From Hometown to Hollywood: Bob Kealing and Tupperware Unsealed

Bob Kealing, WESH TV reporter and author of Tupperware Unsealed: Brownie Wise, Earl Tupper, and the Home Party Pioneers, will read and speak at the Winter Park Library at 7 p.m. on October 28th.  Kealing’s book is being made into a movie by Tate Taylor starring Sandra Bullock.
