Join Patricia Charpentier’s Seven-Day Writing Challenge in August for a fun and free way to get yourself writing and sharing your life stories. Make the commitment to write every day for seven days. You will be helped along the way with daily email prompts designed to trigger memories, which will lead you to stories you might not have otherwise thought to write about.

As a previous research assistant working in biochemistry for the USDA, Peggy Miller’s poems are often inspired by the sciences. Join poet Peggy Miller as she reads and discusses her latest works at 2 p.m. on September 7th at the Winter Park Library.

The Orange County Library System Writer’s Group welcomes writers of all genres and backgrounds to join them for workshops, critiques and discussion. This event will be held on August 10^th at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of the Orlando Public Library. The first four writing pieces of 1,000 words or less will be up for critique if sent to Sarah at fisk.sarah@ocls.info. You may also let Sarah know if you would like to receive the pieces to be critiqued.

Award-winning David James Poissant will be discussing how to write and sell short stories to magazines and literary journals, and how to find an agent and navigate the literary marketplace. Poissant’s work has appeared in The Atlantic, The Southern Review and The New York Times. His books will be available for sale and signings following his talk on August 13^th at 6 p.m. in the Albertson Room of the Orlando Public Library.
