The Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, in partnership with UCF, begins its 2014-2015 Children’s Series with the popular fairy tale Rapunzel. Written by Brandon Roberts, this Orlando Shakes twist on a classic story will be sure to have everyone in the audience laughing and enjoying themselves. The play will run from June 19^th– July 27^th 2014 at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Lock Haven Park.

“Roberts’ new adaptation of Rapunzel is fun for the entire family,” said Director of Education Anne Hering. “The excitement continues after the final bows with a character meet and greet following each performance!”

The Southeast Museum of Photography will host a screening of John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath on Saturday, February 8^th at 3 p.m. Just bring a small donation, and the movie and your parking at the museum is free. 2011 Frost Medalist winner, Charles Simic, recognized for his lifetime achievement in poetry, will kick off Winter With the Writers on February 6^th. Simic will hold a master class at 4 p.m. and a reading of his own world-renowned pieces at 7:30 p.m. Both events will be held at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College in Winter Park.

Dušan “Charles” Simić is a Serbian-American poet and was co-poetry editor of the Paris Review. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1990 for The World Doesn’t End, and was a finalist of the Pulitzer Prize in 1986 for Selected Poems, 1963-1983 and in 1987 for Unending Blues.
