JaxbyJax Welcomes Eve Jones

Eve Jones is the author of the poetry collection Bird in the Machine (Turning Point, 2010). Her poetry and photographs have appeared in such journals as AGNI, Blackbird, Conduit, DIAGRAM, FIELD, Lydwine, Mid-American Review, Nimrod, and Vinyl. A native Midwesterner, she taught creative writing for many years in Lindenwood University’s MFA in Writing program, and now lives and writes in Northeast Florida.

Jones will read at 3:15 PM on Saturday, December 2nd in the Art Gallery Auditorium.

Taryn “Love Reigns” Wharwood to Lead Spoken Word Poetry Workshop at JaxbyJax

At noon on Sunday, December 3rd, learn about the art of spoken word poetry with Taryn “LoveReigns” Wharwood in Bldg B, Room 205 at FSCJ’s Kent Campus.

LoveReigns is a poet, writer, author, emcee, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and curator. She is the Program Manager for The Performers Academy of Jacksonville and currently conducts weekly writing workshops for adults in recovery, at-risk youth in drug rehabilitation centers, youth in foster care and in juvenile detention centers via Hope at Hand, Inc. In addition, she is the CEO of IAmLoveReigns Enterprises LLC, providing online business solutions for small to medium sized businesses, artists, and entertainers. She is also the host of The Random Thoughts of Reign Podcast which she began during the pandemic as a way to connect the world with creators during quarantine. LoveReigns is the founder of Artis(Tree) Live, The Closet Jax & Co-Founder of The Cypher Open Mic Poetry & Soul, to date, the longest running open mic in Jacksonville history.

Her words, her aura, her spirit all scream love and when you meet her, you truly feel why Love truly does Reign.

During this workshop, expect personal expression, vocalizing your authentic self, and celebrating community as we continue the 2023 JaxbyJax programming with the literary art of Spoken Word Poetry.

Anna Jacobson to Read at JaxbyJax

Anna Jacobson teaches English, writes poetry and essays, and participates in Jacksonville’s growing storytelling community. As a curriculum creator, Anna has worked with the Smithsonian Museum, the Reynolds Journalism Institute, the New York Times, and the National Scholastic Press Association. Her work has appeared in Moss Gossamer, Boned: a Skeletal Anthology, Roots and Branches, Word Revolt, and Brain Child. She currently sits on the board of the local chapter of Women Writing for (a) Change.

JaxbyJax Welcomes Raejeana Brooks

RaeJeana Brooks is a Jacksonville-born poet, essayist, and movement artist. Her work has been featured in The Offing, Blood Tree Literature, undertone zine, and other esteemed journals, like the physical and digital mailboxes of her loved ones. She holds an MFA in creative nonfiction and poetry from Antioch University Los Angeles. She has been a Roots Wounds Words fellow, a Community Foundation for NE FL Art Ventures grantee, and will imminently be in residence at VA Center for Creative Arts.

Brooks will read from her work at 11:15 AM on Saturday, December 2nd in the Main Auditorium F-128.
