Dale Slongwhite to speak about Fed Up: The High Costs of Cheap Food

Dale Slongwhite’s book, Fed Up: The High Costs of Cheap Food was released in May by the University Press of Florida. She interviewed eleven African American former farmworkers who planted and harvested produce on the farms surrounding Lake Apopka. She wrote the book from their point of view. Barry Estabrook, author of TomatoLand gave this endorsement: “Poignant, gut-wrenching and real, this book should be required reading for everyone who eats.” Dale will be speaking and signing books on the following dates:

Editor/Publisher Joan Leggitt to Speak at Winter Park Library on July 26th

Joan Leggitt, Editor and Publisher at Twisted Road Publications, will speak and take questions from 10 a.m. – noon on Saturday, July 26th at the Winter Park Public Library, 460 E. New England Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789. Leggitt will provide tips from an editor/publisher’s perspective for writers to polish their manuscripts into publication-ready submissions. The event is free and open to the public as part of the library’s New Work (How-To) series.
