Patricia Pongracz

Patricia C. Pongracz will host a guest lecture at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on Tuesday, March 11th at 6 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public.

Pongracz will explore the artistic legacy built at Rollins College by Jeannette Genius and Hugh McKean beginning in the 1940s. Come hear the story of the Morse Gallery of Art, the McKeans’ innovative exhibitions, and the impact of their investment both on Rollins’ campus and in the city of Winter Park.

Spring Literary Luncheon

The AAUW organization will host a spring literary luncheon on March 8th at 11:30 a.m. at the University Club of Winter Park. The event will feature guest speaker Dr. Richard Lapchick.

Lapchick is currently a professor at the University of Central Florida, as well as President and CEO of the National Consortium for Academics in Sport. He has helped to bring the NCAS office to UCF.

Lapchick is the author of 100 Trailblazers: Great Women Athletes Who Opened the Doors for Future Generations. A close friend to the late Nelson Mandela, Lapchick is an empowering speaker, sure to deliver a message you shouldn’t miss.

Open Mic at Sleeping Moon Café

Sleeping Moon Café will host an open mic night, lead by poet and storyteller, Tim Rumsey, on March 10th from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The theme for the night is “celebrating Vitamin K, the power of kindness in our lives.”

The open mic will feature readers sharing 6-8 minutes of material that highlights the value of kindness, or what happens when kindness is missing. The night will end with everyone sharing a meaningful quote about kindness.

The event is free and open to the public, however it is asked that all who attend purchase something from Sleeping Moon Café to thank them for hosting the event.
