A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum

The Osceola Center for the Performing Arts will host the play, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum, February 21st through March 9th. Tickets will be $15 for students, $19 for seniors and $22 for adults.

The synopsis for the play reads: A non-stop laugh-fest in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia, for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two.

Haydn’s Creation

The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park will host the performance of Creation on March 1st at 7:30 p.m. at Knowles Memorial Chapel. The performance dramatically portrays the creation of earth with humor and fervor. For more information, visit the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park.

MAYS of Orlando

The Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony of Orlando will host its annual Orchestral Masterworks Concert at 4pm, Sunday, February 23, at Seminole State College in Sanford.

MAYS was founded in honor of influential local youth orchestra leader, Jonathan May, and the orchestra is supported by 501c3 organization, The Jonathan May Foundation. Comprising students ages 5-22, MAYS features eight orchestras in Orlando and Lake County.

The concert will feature all four MAYS of Orlando orchestras performing selections by Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Gershwin and more.  The concert also features four MAYS Concerto Competition winners, each of whom will perform solos with the orchestra that showcase their virtuosity.
