The Cornell Fine Arts Museum will host its monthly event on February 7th from 4-8 p.m. The event will feature 2013–14 Fred W. Hicks III Fellow Mandy McRae. McRae will lead guests around the museum and explain to them the curating process and what her role at the museum is like day-to-day. Light refreshments will be served. Charles Simic Kicks Off Winter With the Writers at Rollins Today

2011 Frost Medalist winner, Charles Simic, recognized for his lifetime achievement in poetry, will kick off Winter With the Writers TODAY.

Simic will hold a master class at 4 p.m. and a reading of his own world-renowned pieces at 7:30 p.m. Both events will be held at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College in Winter Park.

Dušan “Charles” Simić is a Serbian-American poet and was co-poetry editor of the Paris Review. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1990 for The World Doesn’t End, and was a finalist of the Pulitzer Prize in 1986 for Selected Poems, 1963-1983 and in 1987 for Unending Blues. He was appointed the fifteenth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 2007. (Wikipedia.)

Questions for Mr. Dickens?

Mr. Charles Dickens himself (or a reasonable facsimile) will read from his novel David Copperfield at the Carousel Emporium on Saturday, February 8th.  He will also be available after the reading to talk with the audience and answer questions. The event will begin at 12 p.m. but the reading will not start until 12:15 p.m. The Carousel Emporium will be decorated with art pieces relating to the Victorian times and Dickens.
