Art Evolution

Emotions Dance Company will bring classic works of art alive at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center on June 13th and 14th at 8 p.m. Tickets begin at $20, with discounts offered for students and seniors.

Patrons will enjoy contemporary dance by Emotions Dance Company, also featuring choreography from Genevieve Bernard of Voci, visual art by Orlando’s Thomas Thorspecken, and spoken word pieces by J. Bradley. All of the art that audiences experience throughout the night is inspired by famous artwork from DaVinci, Dali, Warhol, and more!

Peace Through Your Eyes

Global Peace Film Festival will bring “Peace Through Your Eyes” to the Abbey on June 8th at 12 p.m. Tickets are on sale now through the day of the event with varying prices.

An Orlando filmmaker’s love for her gay brother leads her to raise awareness of gay rights issues. This is the story of a Rollins College student, Annie Koeblitz, and her fight to show the importance of gay-straight alliances in schools. This 15 minute short will be followed by improvisational theatre by the performers of Satori Playback Theatre under the direction of Richard Regan Paul. The event also includes a brunch.

World Ballet Competition’s All Stars of Dance

The World Ballet Competition reaches its finale with All Stars of Dance on Saturday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Tickets start at $25.

This electrifying performance features dance celebrities from around the world, among the winners of this year’s competition. Acclaimed dance troupes previously featured in this show include American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Momix, Complexions, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Miami City Ballet, and the Boston Ballet, among many other artists and companies.
