Writing and Selling Poetry

The Herndon Branch of the Orange County Public Library will host an event for authors and poets alike on Monday, June 9th at 7 p.m.

Is your poem polished and ready to find a home? J. Bradley will answer your questions and provide tips on how to get your poems published, whether in a magazine, a chapbook, or a collection. A book sale and signing will follow the discussion.

Choosing a Publishing Path

Changes and new opportunities in the publishing industry have made it an exciting time to be an author, but have also made it one of the most confusing times to be an author.

Authors J.A. Souders and Aria Kane will present the different publishing paths available and openly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each on Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the Albertson Room of the Orlando Public Library.

OCLS Writers Group

The Orlando Public Library will host a writers group in their Cypress Room on June 15th at 4 p.m.

Writers of all genres and backgrounds are welcome for workshops, critiques, and discussion. June’s meeting will focus on local, national, and online resources available to writers.

FWA Mini Conferences

The Florida Writer’s Association will host two mini conferences over the summer. To register, visit the Florida Writer’s Association website.

The Crime and Police Procedure conference will begin in Tampa on June 7th. Attendees will hear from experts such as an attorney for the Department of Children and Families, a retired undercover narcotics officer, a crime scene investigator, and a retired special agent with the FBI. On June 28th will be the 2nd Annual Nonfiction Mini-Conference in Altamonte Springs. Here attendees will learn about using social media, invasion of privacy in nonfiction, basic editing, blogging, writing memoirs, researching facts, writing book proposals, and many more topics.
