Sleeping Moon Café will host an open mic night, lead by poet and storyteller, Tim Rumsey, on March 10^th from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The theme for the night is “celebrating Vitamin K, the power of kindness in our lives.”

The open mic will feature readers sharing 6-8 minutes of material that highlights the value of kindness, or what happens when kindness is missing. The night will end with everyone sharing a meaningful quote about kindness.

The event is free and open to the public, however it is asked that all who attend purchase something from Sleeping Moon Café to thank them for hosting the event.

Vanessa Blakeslee, author of Train Shots, will host a book release party at the Eden Bar in Maitland from 2-5 p.m. on March 15^th.

The synopsis reads: a single mother rents a fundamentalist preacher’s carriage house. A pop star contemplates suicide in the hotel where Janis Joplin died. A philandering ex-pat doctor gets hooked on morphine while reeling from his wife’s death. And in the title story, a train engineer, after running over a young girl on his tracks, grapples with the pervasive question—what propels a life toward such a disastrous end?

The Melbourne Chamber Music Society will bring music group Stile Antico to St. Marks United Methodist Church on Friday, March 14^th.

This magnificent vocal ensemble will be performing a highly interesting program of liturgical music from the Renaissance. Composers such as Palestrina, William Byrd, Orlande de Lassus and Josquin Desprez will be featured.
